This app lacks a dark theme and does not react to the Force Dark Mode Developer setting. After so many years in service--and with all the annual profit Amazon generates, it's absurd that such a simple and much-requested feature remains unaddressed. As a visually impaired person, I have further need for either a native dark theme or the app's compatibility with OS-level theme changes, as well. A "table of contents" of a product page's sections would greatly increase page accessibility, as well.
This will be the last time I use Amazon. I'm so tired of dealing with their problems. I've had to return so many broken/def used items this year it's not even funny - and they ended up charging me for one of my returns! Now, they lost an item in transit and when ordering a replacement for THEM LOSING MY ITEM, it says I have to return the lost item?? How am I supposed to do that? Customer service claimed it was a glitch but honestly after them double charging me before I don't believe them.
What happened to this app?! It's always so slow now!! Have to close it out all the time just to get it to respond. I reinstalled as a last ditch effort and it's still horrible. When it's fixed, I'll edit this rating. 11/21/24 EDIT The app was fixed, it's not longer slow. However, now you get a notification that asks you to take a second look at things you looked at. Not added to a list or saved for later, just looked at. And that's very annoying.
Until today, I have never had any problems with the app. However, today I can't choose options on an item. For example I select an item that can come in different colors. While the button is there showing the current color and a down arrow to select another, tapping it does nothing. I had no problems yesterday, and it just started today. I checked for updates, and I updated. I cleared cache. I force stopped the app. Nothing has corrected the issue. If it corrects itself, I will edit this review.
Gone Downhill!! When you pay $139/year for a service, there's a reasonable expectation that you'll get what you pay for. Amazon's customer service has gone drastically downhill while the costs to the customers continue to rise. I schedule my deliveries on specific days when I know I'll be available to bring them in right away, but more and more they are delayed with no explanation. I understand this happening occasionally, but it's been pretty frequent over the past year or so. Unacceptable!
Amazon Prime subscription is a rip off. It is $115 and advertised as including free shipping, streaming service, and the music app. The truth is that you only have free shipping on few items, the streaming service has as many ads as cable TV, and the music streaming doesn't let you listen to music you choose. However, all of these issues are mitigated if you pay even more in each of these services for premium versions. Classic bait and switch marketing.
Search function doesn't search by price or relevance, you wade through irrelevant stuff forever to find something you're looking for. Now it crashes over and over, going back to the home screen or the phone home screen, I keep restarting the phone but it won't work. I'm trying to give them money but the stupid app won't let me haha. I have to buy stuff on Ali express to shop online I guess, their app at least works, and it lets me use PayPal. I guess these are the death throws of Amazon?
The app continues to choose a secondary address (our daughter's college address) instead of the primary/default address (our home). I've set and reset the default to be sure. I've uninstalled/reinstalled the app. But the issue persists. There's no way to report this problem. The "contact us" link just offers articles that have nothing to do with the issue. The AI assistant is a joke. Amazon sucks.
Latest update broke basic functions, like "proceed to checkout" doesn't work, the lack of a dark mode is rough on the eyes, "Rufus" is an annoying, unhelpful, nosy busybody who gets in the way, and can't be dismissed or turned off, and the app randomly crashes and closes itself while scrolling through garbage results that don't come close to the search query put in. There is no bug reporting or feedback mechanism either.
There's a $10 off $20 or more of certain health products. Both products say they're in stock on the product page, but one of them gets removed from the cart for being unavailable when I go to checkout. As a result, I will be buying neither product. UPDATE: Silly me. I chose a different product instead, and at checkout, both products still said they qualified for the $10 credit. But the credit was not applied to the order, nor was it applied to my points/gift card balance. It was a TOTAL SCAM.
Since the update, I get kicked off the app when I go to filters to pick specific sizes, colors, and materials and so on. It's VERY FRUSTRATING!I've always used filters to save time so I'm not scrolling through 1000 different products. Why is it crashing????? And yes, I have restarted my phone, uninstalled/reinstalled, and I have a lot of memory.
Can. You. PLEASE. Implement more app control settings?? At least to disable video previews while browsing items, and to disable the View In Your Room function?? The app constantly crashes on me and I'm fairly certain these features could be causing it. Perhaps due to a memory leak or something. Regardless, they halt my progress in searching for and purchasing items having to wait 60 seconds for the third image and any consecutive images in a listing to load! It's been happening for over a year.
Every time I open this app, the experience gets worse and worse. I genuinely don't understand how they could continue to add so many useless features while removing others that were actually functional. It's constantly failing to load items, the zoom on images is atrocious, and it's constantly crashing. Most recently I lost an item I was looking to buy and I go into the browsing history to find it again, and find out that the browsing history is no longer history and merely suggestions.
Love Amazon, but not this app. Search provides too many results. Too much information is mind-boggling. Easier to do Google web search to find then click on Amazon. App is cluttered with promotions. Swipping is sluggish, lags between pages. Menu is hit and miss with some options not available. Awful. There is no option for Wi-Fi only. Drains mobile data. Purchases and delivery tracking work excellent. Account info works fairly well. Push notifications good excepting ads, which are a nuisance.
Prices Change Too Much. I know it's business, but that's a widely used excuse to act dishonorably. I will see a price and then less than an hour or 2 will go by and the price will change. I've tried to buy things and it seems that I was unable to make the purchase because they really wanted to charge more. It seems it was advertised at one price to draw me, and then changed at checkout to take advantage. 🤔 Wow. Used to be about a week to get my order. Now it takes almost a month. Trash.
Absolutely appalling. Worst customer service experience I've had in a long time. They blatanly ignore what I say, skirt around the actual problem which is in thier programming, and continuously repeat the same instructions that I had already tried before even asking. I reached out to tell them it doesnt work. And eventually they started sending me instructions for unrelated problems. Theres no way to archive orders through the app, only computer, and they don't know that. I figured it out myself
Was 4 or 5 stars, now it is 1 star. The search result page now lists ONE item at a time instead of 2 or 3 at a time. A new update has changed the grid view layout of the search results screen in the app and there is no way to change it that I can find. The product picture has been enlarged to fit the entire screen with a detail window positioned below. It takes so much longer to scroll through search results now!! AT LEAST GIVE US THE OPTION TO CHANGE IT BACK, PLEASE!
Terrible Service – Unacceptable Delays and Lack of Flexibility I ordered an item with Amazon Prime, expecting the usual 2-day delivery. However, the item was delayed by 4 additional days, which made it useless for the intended purpose. To make matters worse, the item hadn't even shipped yet, and when I tried to cancel the order, Amazon wouldn’t let me! They effectively forced me to wait and charged me for an item I no longer needed. This experience was incredibly frustrating.

Wow... It got worse. Now with dozens of useless dropdown menus to obscure information that was once easily viewed on the main page. Now with even more USELESS Rufus injections, sure to annoy even a saint. If possible, the search results are worse, often the keyword I'm searching for will not even make the top 10, and the results are repeated OVER AND OVER, often with different prices. I get better results doing a google search of Amazon contents, go figure. Shipping is a joke, they barely track.
Amazon Fresh: The option to reschedule an order is virtually impossible. If one makes a mistake on the delivery time, the order is picked up almost immediately and the option to reschedule disappears. The option to cancel disappears extremely quickly as well. I had this experience just now when I placed an order. I was transferred four times while speaking with customer service and none of them could help me within the short time span after I placed the order.
